Blown-In Insulation
Residential & Commercial Blown-In Insulation
Effective and ensuring maximum performance, blow-in insulation, or "loose fill insulation", is an effecient way to protect buildings and their occupants against fire, nuisance noise, and heat loss. Unlike products suck as rolls and slabs, loose fill insulation is blow into the applied area, using a blowing machine. The two types of blown-in insulation we use are loose-fill fiberglass and cellulose.
Loose-Fill Fiberglass
Loose-fill fiberglass is a light insulation manufactured from glass that is heated to a liquid and then spun into thin fibers. Adding blown-in fiberglass insulation to attics offers an average of R-2.7 thermal value per inch.
Cellulose
Blown-in cellulose insulation is made from finely shredded recycled cardboard or newspaper. It's chemically treated to resist mold and fire. Cellulose insulation has an average thermal value of R-3.7 per inch. Overtime, loose fill insulation settles and consequently loses some of its thermal R-value. We provide a full attic energy efficiency service package.
Why do we recommend removing old insulation?
Pest and rodent infestations
Mold and fungus grown in the house or attic
Od allergen filled insualtion
Damaged, or insufficient insulation coverage in attic
Uncomfortable rooms (removal required to air seal and replace)
